Dr. Sebastian Schöning becomes new CEO of the FFG Europe & Americas Group

April 21st, 2021 - On May 1st, 2021, Dr. Sebastian Schöning takes over the global leadership of the FFG Europe & Americas Group and in particular MAG IAS GmbH. As a specialist in turnkey production systems, we have a proven expert as the new CEO who is well networked in the industry.

Dr. Sebastian Schöning was born in Bremen and studied mechanical engineering and business economics in Aachen. He started his professional career at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, where he dealt with topics related to technology management. As a senior engineer at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering of RWTH Aachen, he took over the field of innovation management and completed his doctorate during this time. In 2007, Dr. Schöning joined the MAG Group (now part of the FFG Europe and Americas Group) for the first time as Vice President Platform Management. At this time, the driving topic was still the integration of the individual brands, which had to be merged after various acquisitions. Subsequently, Dr. Schöning took over responsibility for the CORCOM plants in Rottenburg and Kecskemét (Hungary) before taking over the management of the Business Unit Automotive in Eislingen in 2011.

In 2013, Dr. Schöning joined Gehring as CEO and managed the group for 7 years. At Gehring, one focus of his activities was the expansion of new business fields such as production technologies for the electrified drivetrain. With his involvement in the automotive industry strategy dialogue he was actively involved in the transformation strategy of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Dr. Schöning brings his network and experience into his new role at FFG Europe & Americas and MAG IAS.

“I’m extremely pleased that with Dr. Sebastian Schöning we were able to win a proven expert as the new CEO for FFG Europe & Americas”, says Jimmy Chu, founder and chairman of the Fair Friend Group (FFG). “He will not only take responsibility for the group, but will also drive the development of the MAG IAS Group. In recent years as CEO at Gehring Technologies Holding GmbH, Dr. Schöning has proven that a successful change is possible in a company that focuses on components for internal combustion engines. During this time he was able to expand his network in the automotive industry and will incorporate this into his new role”.

We are looking forward to working together with Dr. Schöning, wish him every success and welcome him warmly.
