Innovative gear cutting technologies for individual requirements
Based on a tradition dating back to 1900, VEB Zahnschneidemaschinenfabrik MODUL was founded in 1950.
MODUL is now the competence center for gear milling at FFG and offers an extensive program for the soft manufacturing of different gears. Their range includes machines for milling cylindrical gears and shafts with straight and helical gears, for chamfering with forming or cutting tools and for manufacturing straight bevel gears.

High-quality gear cutting machines and contract manufacturing of custom gears
MODUL offers hobbing, skiving, chamfering, deburring and bevel gear machining to cover the complete technology range for soft machining of gears. Hobbing and skiving in particular can also be used for hard machining of gears.
The new Modul CDT and VSM series can be used for oriented machining options. Drilling can therefore be realized alongside gear machining, for example.
In addition to the development and manufacture of leading gear cutting machines, Modul also acts as a contract manufacturer to take on efficient production and soft or hard machining of high-quality gears according to individual requirements – from single parts to large series.
Gear cutting machines for the highest demands
Modul H 80 – H 400
Designed for requirements in the high-performance range, Modul H 80–H 400 hobbing machines guarantee maximum productivity – from flexible single part and small series production through to mass production. These gear hobbing machines are suitable for manufacturing cylindrical external gears using one- or multi-cut machining in climb or conventional milling. They can be used for axial, radial-axial, tangential and diagonal hobbing and for form milling. The gears are manufactured via dry and wet machining with tools made of HSS, carbide, etc. In addition to soft machining, skiving as a means of finishing hardened gears is also possible.Learn more
Modul H 600 – H 2300
MODUL H 600–H 800 hobbing machines enable machining using tools made of high speed steel, carbide or other modern materials. In addition to soft machining, skiving as a means of finishing hardened gears is also possible.
The modular design of Modul H 900–H 2300 hobbing machines makes them suitable for machining wheels or shafts, and – with an additional milling head – also for the manufacture of internal gearing. Additional equipment enables centering for the finished milling of hardened gears.Learn more
Modul CD chamfering and deburring machines with press tools can be used for wet or dry machining. The CDX 250 in particular, with its two tool heads each with five turrets, is outstanding for numerous machining tasks in serial production.
The CDT provides an especially space-saving version in which the tool carriage is housed within the hobbing machine's working area. This version can also be equipped with tools for different operations.Learn more

Modul VS 250 skiving machines are ideal for machining external and internal gearing. These skiving machines are equipped with a tool changer and can perform a variety of operations and auxiliary functions, such as the chamfering and deburring of gears as well as drilling or turning.Learn more

Modul bevel gear cutting machines with two directly driven milling spindles enable the high-performance machining of straight bevel gears. Two cutter heads equipped with single blades work synchronously to create involute tooth flanks, whereby the adjustable contact pattern is symmetrical to the tooth height (the Konvoid generation principle).Learn more
